Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Front Runner ski, snowboard, and fishing rod locking carrier. Now, this is a nice versatile sport rack that'll let you carry two pairs of skis, two snowboards, or two to four fishing rods in the carrier here. Just to show an example, I'm gonna pop up an insert and there they are in use installed on a platform rack. You can see with the carrier closed, it's holding two skis and a fishing rod. Now, they do use on the inside here a nice cushioned top and bottom 1-1/4 inch rubber padding which will ensure excellent grip without scratching your gear.
So when you put your gear in here and close it, it'll keep it protected. You notice it's a spring action which will help keep the rack open while you're loading it. And they do use integrated locks. Right now, you can see that the lock is open. You can see that sticking out.
I'm gonna zoom in here so we can get a closer look. But you can see when it's sticking out, that means it's open so it won't close. It'll stay open. To lock it, what you'll do is push in on this and then that will extend over there. And then what'll allow you to do is just push it closed on your items.
And then it comes with this nice cover to protect the lock from any water and ice. Four keys are included. So you just put it on like that. And then to open it, what you'll do is take your key, it's a tube key, you put it in there, line it up, turn it half a turn, it'll release it and then just turn it back, you're gonna move your key and it's open. Now, just to show you again to lock it, you push it on that, push it down.
And then to open it, line your tube key up, go a half a turn and if you leave it at half a turn, it'll unlock it, but it'll keep the key in there. If you wanna remove the key, you just gotta go back that half a turn and then your key will come out and it'll stay open just like that. Now, this does install into your rack's channels with the included hardware right here. Nice set of instructions. It'll describe how it goes together. Now, they do also offer an accessory side bracket which we sell separate on our website that'll let you mount this carry on the side of your Front Runner rack. That'll help free up space on top of your rack. The finish on these, it's nice black powder coat of steel construction. It's rust resistant. Carrying capacity again is two pairs of skis, two snowboards, or two to four fishing rods. And again, the application, these will fit on Front Runner platform racks or crossbars with the channels. A few dimensions I wanna give you, the internal length, in other words, where this rubber portion is that'll go over your items, this is gonna be 19 inches long. The clearance over your crossbars for any bindings of your skis, in other words from the crossbars to the center here, is gonna be about 2-5/8 inches. So when we go to close this, I'm gonna push that in, we'll lock that one. Push that one in, we'll lock that one. Put our covers on there. Now you're all ready to go. So the last thing I wanna give you is some external dimensions. So the length from this end to this end is 22-3/4 inches long. The width at the bottom is the widest part, 1-7/8 inches wide. And the overall height from your rack up to the top here, 4-1/4 inches tall. But that should do it for the review on the Front Runner ski, snowboard, and fishing rod locking carrier.
